Recent Developments and Internal Dynamics

  • Group Composition: The Left group has seen some changes in recent years, with parties like the Communist Party of Greece and Sinn Féin (Ireland) leaving the group. Sinn Féin moved to the Greens/EFA, while the Communist Party of Greece now sits as Non-Inscrits.
  • Ideological Splits: The group has experienced internal divisions, particularly on issues such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with some MEPs voting against or abstaining on resolutions condemning the invasion.
